Dell 740
The Dell J740 is another one of the freebie computers that Dell sometimes gives away as part of promotional packages, or sells cheaply as an add-on with a certain package. The Dell J740 is a color printer similar to the Dell 720 printer. As far as looks go, one of the best things about the Dell J740 printer is that it is small and discreet. It doesn’t take up all of the table top space on your desk, which is a good thing because you probably have other things to use that space for like most people do. On the downside, one of the things that are bad about the Dell J740 is its propensity to paper jams. For some reason or another, the printer rollers grab the paper without just letting it roll into the queue, and this leads to paper jams because sometimes paper goes in crooked and can’t get through straight or more than one sheet of paper is grabbed, which ends up jamming halfway through the printer.
By the time your ownership of the Dell J740 printer model from Dell ends, you will probably be an expert when it comes to removing and clearing paper jams from your printer. It is one of the woes of owning a printer that one must just come to terms with, and if you can’t deal with a paper jam then you might not want to even buy a printer or you will be spending a lot of loot calling the computer guy to come fix your paper jam, especially in this case.
Be forewarned that the Dell J740 can be quite an ink hog if you don’t know what you are doing. Ink cartridges are hard to find around town, but you can always order them directly from Dell, where you probably get a better price anyway. As far as quality goes, the Dell J740 does produce very nice prints. As a matter of fact, it has the ability to print pictures on photo paper, and these prints might come out looking just as good as any prints you might have ordered from the local drug store.
