Epson R380
The Epson R380 is yet another one of Epson Stylus’ endeavors when it comes to their inkjet photo printers. This is another great one that has come out; it is certainly very impressive when it comes to photo printing and it even does well with text printing; this is something that is very hard to come by in a photo printer making it often necessary to have more than one printer in the household. This is not convenient by any means, especially if you are like most families and there is only one computer in the house. Epson R380 is truly reliable when it comes to printing photographs. It is not deadly slow as many of the other photo printers are, and it prints color photographs just about as quickly as it prints other color white text documents; of course this varies depending on the amount of ink required and the size of the photograph but the fact still remains that the printer is lightning fast when it comes to photographs. The Epson R380 prints at a rate of about 20 to 30 pages per minute, depending on the settings of your printer. There is a mode called ‘draft mode’ in the printer settings that can actually help you to save both ink and time, and that is when the Epson R380 printer is at it’s fastest, churning out 30 to 35 pages of text an hour. If you have had a dreadfully slow or even a dreadfully quick printer (photo printer or otherwise) you know how important it is and how irritating it can truly be when your printer is Grandma-slow.
On the downside, one of the things that the Epson R380 printer does not do is print CD and DVD labels directly out of a CD drive. With proper formatting, it can be done with CD labels, but the other Epson photo printer models can print directly onto the DVD or CD as long as it is the pre-labeled kind. This is no major loss, but to those who think they are getting the same features as some of the other Epson Stylus photo printers you are sadly mistaken.
